Using Spamless
Spam sensitivity (Relaxed / Balanced / Strict)
You can tune how aggressively Spamless filters mail per domain. The setting changes where the lines are drawn between "deliver", "quarantine" and "reject".
The three levels
- Relaxed — fewer false positives. Only higher-confidence spam is quarantined, and it takes a very high score to reject; borderline mail is delivered. Choose this if legitimate mail was being held.
- Balanced (default) — the recommended setting for most domains.
- Strict — catches more. More borderline mail is quarantined, and clear spam is rejected sooner. Choose this if too much spam is getting through.
How to change it
- Open Domains in the dashboard.
- On the domain's card, pick a level from the Spam sensitivity dropdown.
Available on Pro and Enterprise; on Basic the page shows an upgrade notice instead of saving. A level you set while on a paid plan keeps working — you just can't change it until you upgrade again.
Only the account owner can change sensitivity, and only on a verified domain (a domain still showing Pending ownership has the dropdown locked). The change takes effect within about 5 minutes and applies to that domain only — other domains are unaffected.
How it works under the hood
Every message gets a spam score. "Relaxed" raises the bar for quarantining and rejecting (so fewer messages are held); "Strict" lowers both (so more are). A domain with no custom setting uses the Balanced defaults.
Tips
- If a sender keeps getting caught, add them to your allow list instead of loosening the whole domain — see Allow & block lists.
- Pair sensitivity with the quarantine view to confirm the effect over a few days.
